Our Mission

The Long Island Presidents' Council is a consortium of Long Island public school teachers and support staff. Since 1995 the Council has supported a presence on local radio and television stations.

The campaign presents a positive message about public education. The following key points are stressed:

• Our schools are excellent.
• Innovative, creative instruction is taking place every day.
• Instruction is keeping pace with the changes in technology.
• Our teachers are credentialed, experienced professionals.
• Public education is a cost-efficient, valuable commodity.

This is positive, constructive information familiar to education "insiders," but previously not disseminated to the general public. This is an evolving project stressing the importance of involvement in and support of Long Island's greatest resource, education, and the Long Island teacher.
